Ideas for the venue.

Post  Dmanlamius on Wed Mar 12, 2008 7:30 am

Of course, live music would be the foundation in the evenings. All types, appealing to a broad spectrum of people.

But in the day, I want to aim the concept at young people.

Somewhere where they could learn about music. Maybe even music production. I want to get qualified people in to share their knowledge. Apprenteships could also be a viable option in the long run.

But we could also have D.J workshops. We have them at the youth club that I work in, and they offer a completely different colour to the "band" set up that we are all so used to. This is very important.

A small internet cafe could be beneficial.

Lets get some ideas up and running, guys...

I believe there's a similar type thing in Gillingham called the sunlight centre, might be worth a look: http://www.sunlighttrust.org.uk/

It's similar in it's energy, but isn't aimed solely at music.

Yeah that's the thing. But it shows even Medway council's willingness to fund something of the sort! If you had a good enough business plan and ethic you could probably just do it with a small business loan if it's in a prime location, so long as you have a cafe that's always open and playing decent but different music you can probably support the rest of the goings on. I dunno how much you want it to be a free thing though; what about the lessons?
